Internet is everywhere nowadays. Most of the things are online like shopping, banking, social media, registrations, maintaining large records from both private and government sector. This makes large amount of data available over internet. This data can be use by hackers or criminals for illegal activities. Thus the numbers of cyber attacks are increasing day by day. That’s why it is necessary to make society aware about cyber security and how to be safe over the internet.
To make people aware about cyber security, a great initiative is taken by Nashik City Police. Under this a Cyber Security Awareness program is held at K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research on 22nd December 2016. It gave important information to students for protecting themselves on internet from cyber attacks and enhanced the importance of online security.
Protect your online existence by doing following things:
- Use strong password which should be a combination of digits, alphabets, and symbols. And it should be long enough.
- Never share your password with anyone.
- Don’t use same password everywhere. Create different password for different account.
- Don’t share your personal information, photos, and videos with any unknown person on the internet.
- Think twice before posting anything on the social media.
- Don’t accept friend request from unknown person.
- While visiting any website check it’s URL. It can be a fake website or duplicate copy of original website.
- Always check privacy settings of your social accounts and applications you are using.
- Don’t respond to fake emails or spam messages and calls.
- Don’t get addicted to internet, mobiles and online gaming.
